The Postpartum Doula
What is a Postpartum Doulas role?
To be a support to the mother and her family, postpartum doulas provide physical and emotional support in this time of transition.
Support offered by the postpartum doula includes:
* listening to the mother and partner as they process their experience of the birth
* showing the parents and other family members soothing techniques for newborns
* facilitating support from family and friends by establishing needs and providing gentle guidance
* assisting the breastfeeding relationship between mum and her new baby
* providing reassurance
* light household chores (ie: some dishes, light lunch prep, baby's laundry)
Postpartum doula services: $22/hr or 40 hrs for $750
Services include the following:
* breastfeeding support, light meal prep, light household work, emotional support, help with normal infant care
* 24/7 phone availability for questions/support
* hours can be decided to suit your needs
If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it.
